Exams: He gives VERY good curves-one of our curves was about 23 points. But make sure that you check your test when he goes over it-he makes lots of mistakes and make sure that he adjusts your grade in his book-sometimes he forgets
Homework: He doesn't take up homework until right before the test. But if you hope to do good in this class it requires alot of learning outside of class
Textbook: Very helpful book-using the cd that comes with it is helpful
Exams: Gives huge curves (15-30 pts) on each test.
Homework: Problems from book not required, but can be part of the grade if student wishes.
Please avoid him at all costs. There is nothing to be learned here, and without the help of a couple of classmates, I would have dropped the course. I am more confused about Accounting now than I was when his class began. I cannot underestimate the horrible teacher he is. DO NOT RENEW HIS CONTRACT!!!!
Exams: The test questions look as if they were cut and pasted to a Word document, then printed in mass. The tests are HORRIBLE!!! I am not a math genius, but this old guy has no clue when it comes to tests. Very confusing!!! Also had pop quizzes that required an interpretor to understand.
Homework: Problems were assigned at the beginning of each chapter, but he never took them up, except for test day and he didn't even look at them.
Textbook: Gotta use the textbook, or you will be like a ship lost at sea!!!! If you don't read the book, you are gonna get burnt in this class..Have to teach yourself.
Exams: The tests had nothing to do with the material covered
Homework: some pop quizzes and homework problems that no one knows how to do
Exams: Very Hard.
Homework: Problems and exercises. He doesn't even look at them.
Exams: TO do well on his tests you have to have read every word in the chapter, including the footnotes. The multiple choice and T/F questions were very hard because it was impossible to tell where he would get them from and the answers were tricky.
Homework: Chapter outlines and notes were optional and could count for a test grade.
Textbook: I found the textbook extremely helpful because Dr. Jones was very confusing so I had to teach myself from the textbook.
Exams: he would give pop quizes just to spite people if they had to leave early. two soccer girls had a game and needed to leave early, they told him before class and he okayed it, but then when they left, he gave a pop quiz because they left early. so they made a 0.
Homework: problems and outlines
Textbook: you have to teach yourself using the textbook, which is almost just as confusing as the teacher
Exams: Tests never seemed to cover exactly what was covered in class. Always similar, but different enough to make them really, really confusing. However, the plus side was that he curved the grades pretty well.
Homework: Textbook problems
Textbook: the book is needed.
Exams: Even if you don't cover something fully in class, he'll have a very long problem about it on the test.Often, the tests are too long by at least one or two questions and are hard to finish in time.
Homework: He requires a lot of homework, but he dosen't take it up except on test days. The homework usually takes three or four hours a week.
Textbook: If you want to survive in this class, you have to read the book.
Exams: THe test are very hard and he does not cover what is going to be on the exam.
Homework: Homework requirements are problems and outline of the chapter. There are pop quizes given throughout the semester.
Textbook: The textbook is basicly all you will have to learn in this class, because he is not going to teach you anything in this class. He refuses to write on the board so there are no visual aid of the problems that he is discussing in class.
Exams: This teacher was horrible, he does not know how to connect the materail with the students, he does not present the material in a manner that is understandabel to the students and is to old to be teaching. He also does not use the board to show you how to do any of the problems, he expects you to be able to understand what he is talking about and be able to apply it with out showing you how it is supposed to be done.
Homework: none
Textbook: The only way to figure out half way what is going on is to read the textbook, since you are not going to learn anything from him.
